Johnny Appleseed

Don't let this apple season pass by without reading the kids an edition about Johnny Appleseed.  There are many different editions out there, and I haven't seen a bad one . . . yet.  Our family favorite hails from 1967 as told by Solveig Paulson Russell and illustrated by Elfreda.  In fact, I'm rather sentimental about this edition . . . Nana found it in her collection with my name imprinted on the flyleaf . . . ah, the memories!

  1. I was wondering if the last page has Johnny as an old man sitting in front of a fire and he has a long white beard? I am looking for a book I had when I was a child and I am pretty sure this is it but I wonder if this is the same one.

  2. Hi, Bonnie! Yes, the last page has a man with a white beard. He's looking up into the stars as he sits in front of a fire. I hope you find a copy of this book. It's my all time favorite edition of Johnny Appleseed. It looks like amazon.com has a few copies under $3 and abebooks.com has many copies for under $4. Best wishes! Emily
